Javed Hashmi hospitalised after brain haemorrhage
* President, PM, Nawaz, Altaf Hussain enquire about Hashmi’s health
LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz senior vice president Makhdoom Javed Hashmi suffered brain haemorrhage on Tuesday, and was later shifted from Multan to Lahore’s General Hospital (LGH).
He was first admitted to Nishtar Hospital Multan after he had a stroke in the morning. Prof Dr Tariq Salahuddin, the principal of LGH, said a blood-clot had developed on the right side of Hashmi’s brain and he was being examined by senior doctors. “Hashmi is out of danger, but he is not in a condition to speak,” Dr Tariq said. He added that 72 hours were very important after brain haemorrhage to assess the extent of the damage. Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Senator Pervaiz Rashid and a large number of PML-N workers visited Hashmi at the hospital.
President: President Asif Ali Zardari telephoned Memoona Hashmi, daughter of Javed Hashmi on Tuesday and inquired about the health of her father. Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani also called Hashmi’s family to enquire after his health. The PM said that if needed, the government was ready to shift Hashmi abroad for better treatment. PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif, who is currently in London, telephoned Hashmi’s family and assured them that the government would provide him the best medical facilities. Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain expressed concern over Hashmi’s illness, and prayed for the quick recovery of the PML-N leader. app
